A huge thank you to Santa for coming to visit the girls in Hollypark today.
We are so delighted to hear that everyone has made the nice list this year, even the teachers!

Homework Completion Guidelines
Importance of Homework
The school considers that homework is very important:
-
It fosters independence, self-reliance, self-esteem, responsibility and life-long learning skills.
-
It provides the child with the opportunity to consolidate her learning and so is an aid to her progress
-
It provides families with useful insights into their children’s learning and needs
-
It gives pupils the opportunity to develop the practice of independent study and to form good habits for secondary school
-
It affords pupils the opportunity to use alternative materials and supports from those available in the classroom
-
Occasionally, at the discretion of the class teacher or the principal, children are given‘homework off’ as a treat or as acknowledgement of some achievement or special occasion.

Parents Role
-
Parents can help by making sure their child has a suitable time and place set aside for homework with no distractions.
-
Check your child’s homework is completed to the best of her ability.
-
If you feel your child is trying really hard, remember to praise their efforts, especially if it’s something they find difficult.
-
Parents can hear oral elements of homework such as maths tables.
-
If your child is experiencing difficulties completing her homework, please discuss this with your class teacher.
-
Check your child’s homework journal daily and fill in the time taken, along with a signature.
