An Important Message from the HSE

Lost Property

Many coats, tracksuit tops and school jumpers are being mislaid each day!

Please check your daughters' uniforms this weekend, to ensure that they have their name and class on each item. Many of the items being found have no names, or names from children who are no longer in the school. Don’t forget to label their jackets and raincoats!

'Cá bhfuil mo chóta, cá bhfuil mo hata?'

Registration for Sacraments

2nd Class: First Holy Communion & 6th Class: Confirmation

Please note registration for Sacraments is now closed.

Dental Hygiene

We were delighted to welcome dental hygienists from South Beach Clinic to our school last Wednesday to teach the children the importance of dental hygiene and how to brush their teeth properly.

Each child was given a pack which included an information leaflet about brushing technique, a couple of disclosing tablets to check their effectiveness at home, and a sponsorship form to tick twice daily for 2 weeks when they brush their teeth.

The children are asked to complete these forms and return them to their class teacher on Thursday 14th December. For every form returned, South Beach Clinic will donate €5 to the school. This means that if every form is returned to our school, South Beach Clinic would donate €2545 to our school. This would enable us to buy new floor mats for gymnastics and Magna Boards for Special Education.

This is South Beach Clinic’s way of giving back to the community while providing an important service for our girls.

School Choir

Parish Christmas Concert

Congratulations to the girls in our School Choir who performed with Hollypark BNS, our Parish Choir and soloists at the sold-out Parish Christmas Concert on Sunday 3rd December. The girls raised the rafters and we are very proud of them!

We very much appreciate the support of this concert by our Hollypark community. All funds raised will be donated to Kyrie Farm.

Please read the message below from Paul Markey, Chair of the Parish Pastoral Council:

PARISH CHRISTMAS CONCERT Fr Gerry, the Parish Pastoral Council, and the Organizing Committee wish to express their heartfelt thanks to all who attended our Christmas Concert last Sunday evening. It was a spectacular success and it was wonderful to the church full.

Special thanks must go to the Foxrock Parish Choir led by Simon Orrock and the soloists and musicians who brought such enjoyment with their performances. Paul Beausang showed his undoubted skills as an orator and Master of Ceremonies on the night.

The concert would not have been the success it was without the superb performances by Hollypark Girls School Choir led by Principal Berni Gunning and Teacher Siobhán de Fréin, and the beautiful verses and introductions recited by Hollypark Boys School supervised by Principal Barry O’ Donovan. Thanks also to the boys who sold raffle tickets throughout the evening thus hugely adding to the funds collected by ticket sales.

The concert would not have been the success it was without the assistance of our great volunteers who managed the entry to the concert, assisted those requiring seating and managed the Pastoral Centre so that the choirs could enjoy comfort breaks and who oversaw the entire event and ensured all went smoothly on the night.

We are indebted to a large number of local businesses and to our suppliers who sponsored the event and who donated prizes for our very successful raffle. We are very grateful to all who purchased raffle tickets.

Funds are still being received and we will advise you next week of the exact amount received.

St Vincent de Paul

As Christmas approaches, we are conscious that this can be a particularly difficult time for families. We are delighted to once again support our local St Vincent de Paul and thereby support our local families.

An Aladdin payment link has issued if you would like to donate to this very worthy cause. To date our generous families have donated €2009.00 via Aladdin.

To highlight our support of this venture girls are asked to wear Christmas Jumpers to school on Thursday 21st December..... you never know who might be dropping in....???

6th Class Hockey Blitz

Our hockey players in 6th Class took part in a blitz on Monday against St. Brigid's GNS, Foxrock. The girls played two matches each with Hollypark scoring the most points in the end and receiving the trophy! We hope to make this an annual tradition as it was a great opportunity for two local schools to get together and have some fun! Thank you to St. Brigid's GNS for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon.

Bookings for Southside Sports After School Activities for next term are now open at https://southsideschoolsports.com/contact-us/.

Respect for Our Neighbours

As a Green School we actively encourage our girls to walk, cycle and scoot to school. As 80% of our pupils live within 2km of the school, this is very doable for many.

Walking, cycling and scooting not only provide a wonderful opportunity for chats with friends, improving our physical and mental health and caring for our environment, but these methods also help to reduce traffic, making the area around our school a safer place not just for our pupils but for all our neighbours. Unfortunately, but quite justifiably, our neighbours frequently complain of inconsiderate parking on the roads close to our school.

Please use the Church car park if it’s on your route to school: parking at the Church is free to all families at drop off and collection times.
