First Holy Communion

We wish our 2nd Class girls who are making their First Holy Communion throughout the coming weeks the very best of days on this milestone celebration.

Green School Award

We are very proud to announce that Hollypark GNS has just been awarded our 9th Green Flag!!! This flag represents our work in relation to Travel in the Context of Global Citizenship

Our committee has worked tirelessly over the past two years to encourage us all to use sustainable travel to and from school.  We recently received an inspection from An Taisce and on the basis of that visit they recommended that we would be awarded this particular flag!

The girls on the Committee are very excited and we are all so proud of our achievement as a Green School.  There will be a big award ceremony on the 21st May in the Helix and members of our Committee will travel to this ceremony to collect this 9th flag.  We will organise an event in the school to celebrate in the summer term.

Thank You!

We are very grateful to the 266 families (that is 64% of all families in the school) who have already given a Voluntary Contribution during this school year. Voluntary Contributions can be made via Aladdin at any time throughout the year. Each and every contribution is very much appreciated and will be used to enhance your daughter's learning environment.

Good Dental Hygiene

Thank you to the 387 girls who returned their Dental Forms earlier this year. Alice from South Beach Clinic visited our school before Christmas and chatted to the girls about the importance of good dental hygiene. The girls were asked to commit to brushing their teeth twice daily and recording this on a special form. For every completed form returned, South Beach Clinic pledged €5.00 to our school. Thanks to this pledge and our girls' commitment to good dental hygiene, €1935.00 was recently donated to the school by South Beach Clinic.

Sports Day 2024

We are looking forward to our Sports Day which is planned for Wednesday 15th May. A letter with all details has been issued to parents.

Camogie

Our school camogie team had their first league match of the Cumann na mBunscol competition against Scoil Bhríde. It was a great battle in the rain and the girls came away with a draw. Best of luck to the girls in their next match today against St. Patrick's GNS, Ballyroan.

Hollypark Abú!

Golf

Our summer golf programme is in full swing and it looks like we have a few natural golfers in our midst!

The girls have had two fantastic sessions with Michael Allen, establishing their grip and developing their skills in putting and chipping.

We have been so lucky with the sunny weather to date - hopefully it's a sign of things to come!

STEAM ACADEMY ROBOTICS DAY

We were delighted to welcome STEAM Academy to Hollypark last Thursday. STEAM Academy has over 14 years of experience in Lithuania, Budapest, and most recently in Dublin & Chicago where they are the fastest growing after-school STEAM programme in the region.

They presented an excellent and awe-inspiring robotics demonstration, using STEAM skills and knowledge, giving our girls a glimpse of the future.

DUBLIN YOUTH ORCHESTRA (DYO)

Our 2nd, 3rd & 4th Classes weclcomed the Dublin Youth Orchestra to our school last Friday.

It was a wonderful opportunity for our girls to see top class young musicians at work and many of our girls have been inspired to consider using their own musical talents to join an orchestra.

School Choir

Our School Choir are very much looking forward to singing at the celebration of First Holy Communion on Saturday 27th April (2:00pm).

70th Texaco Children's Art Competition

It gives us great pleasure to announce that two of our students were winners in the 70th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.

Luidmila Solenova (Ms Carroll’s Junior Infants) has won a Special Merit Award in Category F (6 Years and under) with her entry entitled “Phoenix Park”.

Anna Solenova (Ms O’Shea’s 2nd Class) has also won a Special Merit Award in Category E (7-8 year olds) with her entry entitled “Air Hooligans”.

Both Luidmila and Anna have been invited to this year’s Awards Ceremony which will be held in the Johnstown Estate, Enfield, Co. Meath on Wednesday afternoon, 29th May 2024.

Well done to the Solenova sisters!

Respect for Our Neighbours

Parents are reminded that for the health and safety of our girls, there is no vehicular access to the school for drop-off in the mornings.

As a Green School, with a very active Coiste Glas, we actively encourage our girls to walk, cycle and scoot to school. As 80% of our pupils live within 2km of the school, this is very doable for many.

Unfortunately, but quite justifiably, our neighbours frequently complain of inconsiderate parking on the roads close to our school.

Please use the Church car park if it’s on your route to school: parking at the Church is free to all families at drop off and collection times.
