Junior Infants 2024 Welcome Day

We were delighted to welcome our newest Hollyparkers into our school on Tuesday 28th May.

The girls are so ready for their transition into 'Big School' on Thursday 29th August.

Well done to our Student Council for guiding and directing our visitors to the school.

Thank you to our PA who kindly organised a Pre-Loved Uniform Sale to facilitate incoming Junior Infants. The PA will be organising a further Pre-Loved Uniform Sale for all other classes at a later date – all details to follow.

Confirmation

Congratulations to the girls and boys who made their Confirmation on Friday 24th May.

Thank you to Ms Lamont & Ms O'Connor for preparing our girls so well.

Thank you to Fr. Gerry, Goretti Newell and the Parish Sacramental Team for all their work in preparing the girls.

Thank you to the School Choir for their beautiful singing which really enhanced the ceremony.

Thank You!

Thank you to the 294 families (that is 70% of our families!) who have already given a Voluntary Contribution to the school during this school year. Voluntary Contributions can be made via Aladdin at any time throughout the year. Each and every contribution is very much appreciated and will be used to enhance your daughter's learning environment.

Booklists

Booklists for 2024/25 were issued to all classes on Friday 3rd May.

All current school books are to be returned to the Class Teacher by Wednesday 19th June or before this if pupils are leaving school before the end of term. Parents/Guardians are asked to ensure that books are returned in good condition for re-use in the following year. (Pencil markings rubbed out, etc.)

Cumann na mBunscol Athletics May 2024

When we first arrived to Santry, we had a look around and saw a crêpe stall! We then participated in a parade with all of the other schools. Beth was super quick in her sprint and won the gold medal! This really motivated us. Just before we started the relay race, we found out that Emily Zande won the art competition, her art was AMAZING! We were so nervous starting the relay but excited too. We ran as fast as we could and we won the gold medal! After the relay we all got crêpes. It was an amazing experience, Emily was a great supporter, and we were very grateful to our fantastic sub Juliet 😊

Golf: Castle Golf Club Schools Cup

On Monday 27th May, four girls from 6th class – Caitlin, Amy, Aoife and Lucy – took part in the Castle Golf Club Schools Cup competition in Rathfarnham.
When we arrived at the club, we were greeted by club members and event organisers for registration. It was a shot gun start and so we walked to the 3rd hole to begin our 9-hole scramble. We were accompanied by a member of the club, Olive, who took our scores and gave us some helpful tips!
After playing the scramble, we refuelled with some refreshments and then had an informative lesson with the club’s professional, Colin. After that, we got ready to have lunch in the clubhouse with the Castle captains where we spoke to other schools and made some friends. After lunch, they commenced the award ceremony and we were delighted to receive runner-up medals. St. Olaf’s National School won the girls’ competition and St. Michael’s College Junior School won the boys’ competition.
We had an amazing day and the experience provided us with great memories before leaving Hollypark. We look forward to continuing to play golf over the summer months and into the future.

School Choir: Summer Concert Wednesday 29th May

We are very much looking forward to our School Choir's Summer Concert which will take place this evening at 6:00pm in Foxrock Church. All proceeds in aid of LauraLynn.

Thank you to all our families who have already supported this event by buying tickets.

A limited number of tickets will be available at the door this evening and are priced at €10 for adults and €5 for children. (Cash only, thank you.)

Thank you to Hollypark BNS who kindly lent and transported their piano to the church for the concert. Thanks also to Paul Markey for his support and help in organising this fundraising event.

Violin Concerts

Senior Infants to 3rd Class have performed beautifully at their Violin Concerts this week. Well done to all on a great year's work.

And thank you to Ms Garvey who makes this music happen!

Hollypark PA

Our girls cannot wait for the PA Midsummer Cake Sale & Raffle: Friday 21st June!

Health & Safety

A gentle reminder that for health and safety reasons all children (including pre-schoolers and other siblings) and adults must dismount bikes and scooters upon entry to the school. This applies at drop off and collection times and throughout the school day.

We also remind parents/guardians that for health and safety reasons, no dogs (with the exception of guide and assistance dogs) are allowed on the school premises.

Great news!

I am a 4th class student and I am in Ms Conlon’s class. For the last three years, I have been doing Ballroom and Latin dancing classes twice a week. My teacher’s name is Kelly. The large trophy that I won is for Latin dancing – Samba, Chacha and Jive. The smaller trophy is for Ballroom dancing – Waltz, Quickstep and Tango. I enjoy dancing at competitions very much.

Respect for Our Neighbours

Parents are reminded that for the health and safety of our girls, there is no vehicular access to the school for drop-off in the mornings.

As a Green School, with a very active Coiste Glas, we actively encourage our girls to walk, cycle and scoot to school. As 80% of our pupils live within 2km of the school, this is very doable for many.

Unfortunately, but quite justifiably, our neighbours frequently complain of inconsiderate parking on the roads close to our school.

Please use the Church car park if it’s on your route to school: parking at the Church is free to all families at drop off and collection times.
