Frásaí na Seachtaine
Lá ‘le Pádraig atá ann. |
Labhair Gaeilge linn!
Féile na dTeangacha!
Bhí Féile na dTeangacha ar siúl sa scoil an tseachtain seo caite.

Bhí an-spraoi againn ar fad ag úsáid ár gcuid Gaeilge ar fud na scoile.
Bhí Céílí ag Rang a 3 agus Rang a 4 agus bhí cluichí ar an Astro ag Rang a 5 agus Rang a 6.
Ghlac an scoil ar fad páirt sa Seó Faisin ar an Aoine agus bhí Páráid Lá ‘le Pádraig againn chomh maith.
Beidh na cailíní i Rang a 6 ag fáil an Fáinne Airgid an tseachtain seo toisc go bhfuil Gaeilge labhartha den chéad scoth acu. Maith sibh a chailíní.
Is iontach an rud é a bheith in ann ár dteanga féin a úsáid agus bhaineamar an-taitneamh as an tseachtain!
Book Fair/Aonach na Leabhar
Many thanks to our Library Ladies for organising a very successful Book Fair/Aonach na Leabhar in our school last week.
The girls really enjoyed picking out their books and reading to each other. Their love of reading is very evident and it is clear that reading is well-supported and valued in our children's homes.
Sales of books amounted to €7173 in total. The school earns 25% in commission from these sales and this commission will be used to purchase teaching resources for our girls.
Many thanks again to everyone who helped out to ensure the Book Fair/Aonach na Leabhar was such a success.
World Down Syndrome Day: Friday 21st March

We are looking forward to celebrating World Down Syndrome Day in Hollypark on Friday 21st March with the Odd Socks Campaign. We are encouraging all our girls to wear odd socks to school on this Friday and make a cash donation. The 6th Class girls will be leading a Bucket Collection on the day.

National Children's Choir
Following seven months of preparation our 5th & 6th Classes are looking forward to their National Children's Choir Concert on Friday 28th March.

Thank you to our 5th & 6th Class teachers for their work in preparing the girls and for giving of their time on Friday evening to attend and supervise at the concert.

Traffic Safety
Morning & afternoon one-way system:

Reminders:
The school has received many complaints of dangerous driving and parking in the vicinity of the school. Children and local residents are being put at risk.
Please use Foxrock Church car park at drop off and collection times and walk the last 6 minutes with your child.
Deansgrange Cemetery has requested that our parent body do not park and stride from the Cemetery carpark.
80% of our pupils live within 2 kilometres of our school. Please encourage your older children to walk with their pals to and from school.
Please ensure that younger children are held by the hand when walking with them to and from school.
Please do not block the driveways of local residents when parking. Many of our residents – often elderly - are virtual prisoners in their own homes at drop off and collection times. And when they speak up are often subject to abuse.
In the event of an emergency, when cars are parked illegally, it is unlikely that a fire tender or ambulance would be able to access the schools, or any homes in the vicinity.
Hollypark GNS & BNS understand and appreciate how busy the roads are each morning. We continue to engage with DLR & An Taisce, Safe Routes to School, for a safer school zone.
Birthdays this week in Hollypark!
