Bí Cineálta

The DE Guidelines and Framework regarding bullying prevention have been revised.

The Bí Cineálta procedures to prevent and address bullying behaviour have been published and will be implemented by all schools nationwide from September 2025.

We are currently reviewing the procedures in Hollypark GNS. All stakeholders in the school community will be consulted. To have your voice heard, please complete this survey. Simply click on the link provided.

Parent Survey

The pupil voice is central to all we do in Hollypark GNS. For your daughter to have her say, please encourage her to complete the survey below. Classes 1st to 6th only please.

The deadline date for completion is Friday 14th February.

Many thanks in advance for your cooperation and time.

History Day in Hollypark: 19th February 2025

We look forward to celebrating History on Wednesday 19th February 2025 with many fun activities on the day.

Girls in 2nd – 6th class will have the opportunity to dress up as a character based on an era or event they have been working on in class. Alternatively, the girls could pick their favourite character from history. Your daughter’s class teacher will give the girls further details.

‘The more we know about the past, the better prepared we are for the future’.

Texaco Art Competition

We are inviting our girls to take part in the 71st Annual Texaco Art Competition.

A ‘Home Application Form’ is going home in the girls’ schoolbags today.

As Texaco is a major oil company that impacts the planet’s environment, our senior girls and members of the Green School Committee have discussed their stance on taking part in this year’s Texaco Art Competition.

The girls recommend that participants use the competition as an opportunity to highlight the themes of environmental care, environmental justice and global warming in their artwork.

Your entry should not be smaller than A4 (29.7cm x 21.0cm) or larger than A2 (59.4cm x 42.0cm) before it is mounted, which is optional.

Please submit your artwork in flat format only, it should not be rolled, folded or framed.

Please return your artwork with a completed application form attached to the back to Ms. Lamont by Wednesday 26th February 2025.

Entries received after this date will not be accepted.

All details about preparing your entry can be found on the Texaco Children’s Art website:https://www.texacochildrensart.com/how-to-enter/preparing-your-entry.

Dancing Achievements

My name is Ava Cahill and I am in Ms Conlon's 5th Class.
Over the weekend my Mum, my sister Zoe, my dance teacher, dance friends and I flew to Blackpool in England for a dance competition called 'The All England Open Championships'.
In my first dance, the waltz, I placed 4th and in my second dance, the cha-cha, I came in 2nd place.
I really enjoyed it and it was a wonderful experience.
Mila's dancing group won 1st place in a competition over the weekend.

Congratulations to Past Pupil Grace!

Our past pupil Grace and her dance partner Tomás represented Ireland in the 2-day festival The All-England Open Championship in the Blackpool Tower – the world’s most famous Ballroom. They shared the floor with over 700 competitors (solos, couples and formation teams) from all over the world.
They competed in 8 events both as soloist dancers and as a couple in various heats, quarter finals, semi-finals, and finals.
They are the GOLD winners of THE ALL-ENGLAND OPEN JUNIOR BEGINNERS WALTZ
They are the GOLD winners of THE ALL ENGLAND OPEN JUNIOR BEGINNERS CHACHACHA
They are the SILVER winners of THE ALL ENGLAND OPEN JUNIOR NOVICE SAMBA
Well done to Grace (and of course her dance partner Tomas)!

Homework Club

The final term of Homework Club will be starting soon.

Homework Club has provided a quiet, supervised study environment for students to complete their homework. Students have had the benefit of being able to ask the supervising teachers for help with their homework if needed. If you would like an application form, please email ocarroll@hollyparkgns.ie.

This final term of Homework Club will run up until the 16th June.

Reminders:

  • The school has received many complaints of dangerous driving and parking in the vicinity of the school. Children and local residents are being put at risk.

  • Please use Foxrock Church car park at drop off and collection times and walk the last 6 minutes with your child.

  • Deansgrange Cemetery have requested that our parent body do not park and stride from the Cemetery carpark.

  • 80% of our pupils live within 2 kilometres of our school. Please encourage your older children to walk with their pals to and from school.

  • Please ensure that younger children are held by the hand when walking with them to and from school.

  • Please do not block the driveways of local residents when parking. Many of our residents – often elderly - are virtual prisoners in their own homes at drop off and collection times. And when they speak up are often subject to abuse.

  • In the event of an emergency, when cars are parked illegally, it is unlikely that a fire tender or ambulance would be able to access the schools, or any homes in the vicinity.

  • Hollypark GNS & BNS understand and appreciate how busy the roads are each morning. We continue to engage with DLR & An Taisce, Safe Routes to School, for a safer school zone.
